Societe Sercquaise/Sark Music Society Family Barn Dance
An early evening event in the Island Hall with traditional British and Channel Islands songs, tunes and dances. All the family are welcome to have a dance, no experience required. Sark Theatre Group presents An Evening of 40's Nostalgia
Come and join us for an Evening of Entertainment to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of Liberation. A prize will be presented for the best 40's style costume or imaginative use of red, white and blue. The Show is in the Island Hall and starts at 7.30 p.m. Tickets cost £20.00 each and include a 3-course dinner and a couple of glasses of wine. Seats are limited so early booking recommended.

65th Liberation Day Celebrations on Sark, in the presence of His Excellency The Lieutenant Governor,
will commence with a Parade at 10.30 a.m. from La Collinette to the War Memorial at St Peters Church, from which there will be an Open Air Church Service at 11 a.m., followed by a Parade from War memorial to the Millennium Field. At midday the Chelsea Pensioners will meet the children from Sark School. On the Millennium field there will be Food, Entertainment (including children's activities and a football shootout) & Live Music (provided by the Methodist Youth Brass band, Sark's own Big Sheep, Plonkers and Paul Tongs) until 5 p.m. An Over 65s Tea Dance with the Chelsea Pensioners will also take place from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The evening will continue with a Party on the Millennium Field from 7 p.m. until midnight with a Paella Tent and Live Music from City Limits and Big Sheep.

Artists for Nature Foundation
Sark artist Roseanne Guille MA(RCA) and the Artists for Nature Foundation (ANF) are currently working together on an art project based on the people, the natural habitats and the diverse and unique wildlife on Sark. If you would like to find out more about this exciting project, you are invited to attend a public presentation at the Island Hall at 5.30 pm in the board-room.

Sark Magic Society presents a Weekend of Magic with Banachek and Friends.
Eight professional magicians will be visiting Sark in May and putting on two shows at the Island Hall for the benefit of the Prof. Saint Fund. Some residents will remember their visit five years ago and the full house of fun and mystery of their shows. With two special guests who are coming over specially from America, Banachek and Barrie Richardson, the magicians will be performing acts of mind reading, predictions, thought transfer, metal bending and much more. They will mix drama and daring with comedy and confusion. Each of the artists is a bill-topper in their own right. Only here on Sark will they be appearing together, giving them a chance to appreciate each other's work and to offer a unique opportunity for the audience to see a range of world class talent. Because the perfomances were enjoyed so much last time by both adults and children two shows (including a special matinee)are planned (22nd May 7 p.m. and 23rd May 3 p.m.). Tickets will be available on the door (adults £5.00, children £3.00). All the proceeds will be donated to the Prof. Saint Fund.

Sheep racing.
Just like Ascot, even the hats, but the sheep and their teddybear jockeys are the stars rather than horses. Enjoy a flutter, good food and fun activities. The world famous and ever popular two-day event kicks off with a party on Friday night at 7 p.m. with live music from 'City Limits' in the marquee on the Millennium field. Saturday is Newmarket Day. It begins with a Fancy Dress Parade at 1145 from Avenue Cycles to the Millennium Field, which opens from midday onwards. The first race is at 1245 with seven races at half-hourly intervals. At 3 p.m. there is the judging of Gents Waistcoats. The field closes at 6 p.m. Sunday is Ascot Day. The field opens at midday and racing is as for Saturday. Miss Sark Princess interviews begin at 1.25 and she will be crowned at 3.15. Ladies Hats will be judged at 2.35 and the field will close at 5 p.m. On the field will be a Baa, Hot Food, Tea Tent with cake and sandwiches and various side stalls.

William A. Toplis - The Life and Work of an Artist on Sark
Join Visitor Officer Karen Adams for a guided walk of approx. 2 hours and see some of the places where the great artist William Toplis lived and painted. The walk finishes at the new Toplis room at the Island Hall where you will be able to look at the Centenary Edition of 'The Book of Sark' and talk to Mrs Fiona Kelly, the great-granddaughter of the artist. Walk starts at the Visitor Centre at 10 am. Tickets £3 adult, £1.50 children.

Join Visitor Officer Karen Adams for a guided walk of approx. 2 hours and see some of the places where the great artist William Toplis lived and painted. The walk finishes at the new Toplis room at the Island Hall where you will be able to look at the Centenary Edition of 'The Book of Sark' and talk to Mrs Fiona Kelly, the great-granddaughter of the artist. International Rugby comes to Sark
Under the banner of the Guernsey Wooden Spoon, London Wasps International Legends are sending a squad with over 350 caps to play a Channel Island side on Sark. Players include Andy Gomersall, Andy Reed, Rob Henderson, Kenny Logan and Josh Lewsey. As a curtain raiser, Guernsey Ladies will play Wasps Ladies. There will be a rolling BBQ and naturally a beer tent, plus plenty of opportunities to mix with the stars for photographs, autographs or just a chat.

A special Thanksgiving Service for Pets and Animals will be held at St Peters Church, Sark, at 2.30 p.m. The Rev'd Bellinger will be repeating last year's service, complete with animals and a memory table for the placing of photographs for those who have lost their pets. All are welcome.
